About Ill Digital

This site was originally built as a digital portfolio to share examples of my web design, photography, and art. Using the site as my own design playground I couldn’t stop developing the code or adding new content. What I ended up with was a way to present an interactive archive of an unlimited number of images. The photo’s can be tagged and categorized several ways in detail to make each one easy to find even though there are currently over a thousand shots in here. They start out with pocket camera shots in 2005 when I first moved to NYC, through 2009 when I bought my first SLR, up until now. Watching my progression with photography ended up being more interesting than just a few examples of portfolio shots and websites.

The photo’s have been listed by the date and time each was shot, the subject matter in the photos, exactly where they were shot, the camera body and lenses used, even the settings. They reflect everyday scenes I come across here in New York City and are not staged or sought out purposely. I focus on this city’s scale, architecture, and how it physically fits together. I also try to capture the fine details most may not appreciate, or even know exist until presented in a photo. I also document the amazing people I’ve met here along with modern graffiti and street art to help visually present a feel for NYC in this time period. I just think most of us will grind through life, and not notice just how lucky we are to be able to see what’s right in front of us. I try to use these images to inspire some of you to look through a camera’s viewfinder yourself, take one on your daily missions, and maybe appreciate the details of your everyday surroundings a little more.

The best way I can describe myself is as an artist, although I currently earn most of my living in New York City as a web designer or occasionally as a photographer. The websites I create are usually customized versions of worpress for other artists, designers, and photographers to easily add content and update themselves. I also work with a few larger sites geared toward urban youth culture, graffiti writers, and street artists. If you’ve been referred to me for web design or photography, I’ll assume you have my contact information. I encourage anyone to leave public comments on photographs or just throw me a shout out below. Thanks for your interest and I appreciate you checking out illdigital.com
